Katie Marie James
February 28, 2001 - September 7, 2001
Ontario

February 28, 2001, a day of great joy when a beautiful 7 lb. girl was brought into our world. She had beautiful dark hair just like her Daddy. As she wrapped her little hand around my finger I fell in love all over again. This was our baby, we made her & she was perfect! The joys of parenthood were fantastic, both of us so proud of our little Katiebear.

Everyone that met Katie fell in love with her dark curly hair & those long beautiful eye lashes. A lot thought she was the most beautiful baby in the world. Especially when she flashed that smile of hers that would warm your heart.

Our 2nd nightmare in life began at Katie's 2 month check-up, a week or 2 later she was diagnosed with SMA 1. Not something any parent can cope with, knowing your child would leave this world much too soon. Also combine that with the fact that Katie's Daddy was in the dying stages of his battle with cancer, it was a huge blow for 2 parents already dealing with so much. We pressed on & gave our sweet Angel the best of everything we could. Our little family held strong for as long as we could together. I made Daddy promise if he died before Katie, that he was to come back for her so she didn't make the journey to heaven alone. Not to worry he would have been doing it whether I asked or not.

Katie died a month & 5 days after her Daddy on September 7, 2001. Mommy clung to her as long as she could during her month stay at the hospital. Poor little Katie just didn't have the strength to come off the ventilator, so Mommy & the rest of Katie's family said their good-byes & sent her to Daddy to run & play as they watch over Mommy & keep her safe.

Daddy kept his promise & came to pick up his Angel baby. They let Mommy know they were together in the form of birds. Just before Katie died Mommy saw enough birds in the courtyard playing outside of Katie's hospital window, representing family members that had passed on. So She prayed to God & Daddy & said that's how you'll let me know you have Katie is through the birds. So after Katie passed 2 of the birds had flown back into the courtyard, looked into the window till Mommy spotted them, then they flitted around playing a few minutes, then flew off to heaven.

I knew she was with her Daddy & that they'd be together taking care of each other for me!

It's been 2 years since the 2 of them left me, I've just recently have come back to living life the way they would want me to. I will forever keep them in my heart & never forget the great amount of love they gave & continue to send me. In fact it gives me the strength I need to keep going forward.

May God bless all of you & keep you going forward.

Sincerely,
Leslie James
