Ari Kinarthy
British Columbia
Ari is almost 14 and loves animals with an innate
respect and gentleness for other creatures. He has social skills and
empathy for others far above the average teenager!
Ari has made wonderful friends since we have moved to Victoria. He goes
toboccia, plays Yu-Gi-Oh cards and recently started wheelchair hockey on
our cement driveway with family and friends. He plans to compete in
boccia over the summer at the BC disability games.
Ari is a strong-willed, intelligent and wonderful person. I am
privileged to be his mother!
Summers are always a great and healthy time for Ari. We worry about the
winters and the dangers of the flu season. Last winter, Ari was at BC
Children's Hospital for 7 weeks, a month in the ICU. Yikes, that was a
scary time! His lungs are weak which is a common complication of SMA. We
pray for a real treatment for him one day so that his lungs and muscles
can be strong enough so that we do not need to fear the winters so much.
